The winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers play host to the Carolina Panthers, Sunday Oct 18, in a battle of the NFC South. The two teams have split their last four meetings, but Carolina won their last meeting 38-23 at home. NFL oddsmakers at Sportsbetting.com have the Panthers as -3 point road favs over the Buccaneers with the over/under set at 39 points . Be sure to get your Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Week 6 Picks in now at Sportsbetting.com
The Panthers (1-3) beat Washington 20-17 at home in Week 5 and now sit third in the NFC South. QB Jake Delhomme made 16 of 25 passes for 181 yards with one TD pass and an interception; overall he’s thrown for 782 yards with three TD passes and eight interceptions. Their top RB DeAngelo Williams had 18 carries for 40 yards, while RB Jonathan Stewart had 10 carries for 39 yards and a TD. Stewart is listed as probable for Sunday’s battle. Their top WR Steve Smith made five catches for 65 yards, while TE Jeff King added a TD. A season ago, RB DeAngelo Williams rushed for 1,515 yards and scored 20 touchdowns. He has not found that form so far this year and is averaging just 3.7 yards per carry with only two touchdowns. This Sunday will give DeAngelo Williams perhaps his best chance to breakout as he faces a Bucs team he ran for a career-high 186 yards against last season. The Bucs defense is ranked 28th against the rush and 20th against the pass. As for the Panthers so called offense, their passing game ranks 23rd and their running game sits ranked 26th. RB Derrick Ward had a career-high 215 rushing yards on 15 attempts (14.3 yard average) in his last game against the Panthers. The Panthers average 14.2ppg and give up 26ppg, while they average 13.5ppg on the road and allow 24.5ppg. They are 0-4 ATS and 2-2 over/under.
The Bucs (0-5) lost in Philadelphia 14-33 in Week 5 and still sit dead last in the NFC South. QB Josh Johnson made 26 of 50 passes for 240 yards with two TD passes and three interceptions; overall he’s thrown for 382 yards with three TD passes and four interceptions in three games. Their top rusher was QB Johnson with five carries for 40 yards, while TE Kellen Winslow made nine catches for 102 yards and two TD’s. The Bucs aren’t going to be able to pass the ball against the league’s second best pass defense , they’ll have to pick apart the Panthers 30th ranked rush defense. Julius Peppers has struggled through the first three week’s with one sack. In last week's win over the Redskins, Peppers had his best game of the season, tallying two sacks and contributing to a safety. The Panthers will need him at his best as they try to contend with fleet Bucs QB Josh Johnson. QB Jake Delhomme is 8-2 in 10 career starts against the Buccaneers. WR Steve Smith averages 85.8 receiving yards per game, which is the most in the NFL. The Bucs average 13.6ppg and give up 28ppg, while averaging 10.5ppg at home and allow 29ppg. They are 1-4 ATS and 3-2 over/under.
Recent Trends to Consider:

Free MLB Picks: The Philadelphia Phillies got off to a great start in the National League Championship Series by going on the road and defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 Thursday night in Dodger Stadium. With the win, the Phillies steal home field advantage in the best of 7-games series. The Dodgers are facing almost a must-win scenario in today's (4 pm ET) scenario versus Philadelphia. Starting pitcher for the Dodgers this game will be recently acquired Vicente Padilla. The Dodgers righthander finished the regular season with a 12-9 record to go along with a 4.46 ERA. Countering for the Phillies will be the veteran and former Dodger Pedro Martinez. The Dodgers righthander has a 4.31 ERA to go along with a 13-6 record this season.
Free MLB Picks oddsmakers at Bodog.com currently have the Dodgers listed as 152-moneyline favorites versus the Phillies, while the game's total is sitting at 9.
Martinez will be making his first postseason appearance since beating the Cardinals in Game 3 of the 2004 World Series. The 37-year-old right-hander, who joined the Phillies in August, has pitched just seven innings since Sept. 13. Martinez has gone 3-5 with a 4.02 ERA in nine career starts against the Dodgers. This is his first appearance against them since 2006. In 13 career playoff appearances, the three-time Cy Young Award winner has gone 6-2 with a 3.40 ERA.
Padilla, a former Phillie, has resurrected his career in a big way after being released by the Rangers. He's unbeaten as a Dodger with four regular-season wins and the first-round clincher in St. Louis, when he threw seven scoreless innings and looked perfectly capable of finishing it up. Padilla had a dicey reputation with the Rangers as headhunter, but has been a model citizen with the Dodgers, impressive enough against the Cardinals to get moved up in the rotation.
The Phillies defeated the Dodgers 8-6 in Game 1 on Thursday. The Phillies won the game as a -110 pick'em, while the 14 runs sailed OVER the posted total (7.5). Cole Hamels allowed four runs over eight innings in collecting the win. Clayton Kershaw surrendered five runs over 4 2-3 innings in the loss.
Free MLB Picks: We are sticking our necks out here and going with the veteran Martinez and the Phillies as +137 dogs.

Pitt vs. Rutgers College Football Picks -The University of Pittsburgh football team will travel to Piscataway, N.J. to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a Friday night ESPN televised college football game with kick-off set for 8 pm ET. College Football Picks oddsmakers at BetUS.com list Pitt as 6-chalk ATS and - 240 moneyline favorites versus the Scarlet Knights with a 45 1/2 total. Rutgers backers are getting +200 moneyline odds as a home underdog. Many pundits thought Rutgers would be a contender for the 2009 BIG EAST Conference football crown; until that 15-47 ambush to Cincinnati at home on opening day (Sep. 7). Since then, Rutgers has peeled off four straight wins, although versus questionable opposition - two wins vs. FCS programs Howard and Texas Southern, a win over Sun Belt (non-BCS) member Florida International and struggling Maryland of the ACC.
Pitt, the pre-season BIG EAST No.1 pick of most pundits has lived up to expectations and leads the league, along with Cincinnati, with no conference losses. The only blemish on Pitts record is a 31-38 road loss at ACC member NC State in week 4. Overall the Panthers are 5-1, including impressive conference wins over Louisville and Connecticut. Although Pitt leads the all-time series 19-7, Rutgers has won four straight games vs. the Panthers, the longest winning streak in school history for RU in the series. Last season, Rutgers stopped No. 17 Pitt on the road 54-34 at Heinz Field. Bet on sports at online sportsbook BetUS.com and receive up to 145% in Cash Bonuses and start winning today! |
