Bowden Bowl: FSU Seminoles vs Clemson TigersBowden Bowl number 9 will be on display tonight when son Tommy Bowden and his Clemson Tigers host his dad Bobby Bowden’s #19 ranked FSU Seminoles. Clemson has won 3 of the last four in the series but expectations at FSU are high with the hiring of highly touted new offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher and his new scheme.

The bookmakers at Bodog.com have FSU a 3.5 point favorite in this years Bowden Bowl.

Clemson will be breaking in 11 new starters themselves including a new QB in Junior Cullen Harper. Both of these teams have question marks that will be in plain view of national televised TV audience on ESPN. Clemson coach Tommy Bowden should have a good idea of some the plays new coordinator Fisher will run having spent four years with him at Auburn.

One thing that is a concern for FSU is that with the brand new offense their could be an adjustment period to work the kinks out. Working kinks out on offense against a fast hard hitting defense in their opening game could be a challenge for the Seminoles. One thing is certain in this game: Clemson will be running the ball down florida States throat with their dynamic running duo in C.J Spiller and James Davis.

Bodog.com has the Bowden Bowl total in the game at 45 points.

SMU Mustangs vs Texas Tech Red RaidersOddsmakers at online sports gambling giant SportsBetting.com installed the Texas Tech Red Raiders road favorites (-9.0) when they play the SMU Mustangs at Ford Field on the SMU campus in Dallas Labor Day afternoon (4:00 p.m. ET). The TOTAL is holding at 60. Betting trends show early wagering stacking up on the side of Texas Tech (91 percent) while 82 percent expect the total to slip OVER 60 points. At the time of publication no money lines were available.

While the game between the Mustangs and Red Raiders might not be a big deal nationally, make no mistake about it, the game’s a huge deal around the Big-D. ESPN will be televising the game in what is expected to be a sold out (32,000) Ford Stadium.

SMU would like to end Tech’s 11 year dominance of the game dating back to 1986. In that span, the Red Raiders have enjoyed 12 straight winning seasons and gone to seven straight bowls. The Mustangs haven’t won a season opener since beating Kansas in 2000 and haven’t gone to a bowl since 1984.

The Mustangs like their offense too and players think they can go toe to toe with the Red Raiders this time around. Coming off a 6-6 record, their first non-losing season since 1997, the Mustangs are settled at quarterback with sophomore Justin Willis. As a freshman last year, Willis threw a school record 26 touchdown passes with only six interceptions.

For the first time in Phil Bennett’s six years as head coach, the Ponies expect a winning season something they’ve missed the last two seasons.

NFL Week 1 Predictions: Can the 2007 Atlanta Falcons overcome loss of Michael Vick?NFL Week 1 predictions are on the minds of sports bettors, Point-Spreads.com received an email today from sports bettor Seth G. from Alpharetta, Georgia asking if the Atlanta Falcons can overcome the loss of Michael Vick? We have enlisted the help of football handicapper Brad Marchetti to give his analysis on life after Vick for Atlanta and some other NFL Week 1 predictions below.

Can the Atlanta Falcons overcome the loss of Michael Vick? It appears to be a tough mountain to climb according to the betting public and oddsmakers, as the Falcons sport the longest odds of any team in the NFC to win the Conference Championship. SportsBetting.com has the Atlanta Falcons currently pegged at 40-1 betting odds, firmly anchored at the bottom of the list with Tampa Bay next at 25-1 odds. Dallas, Chicago and New Orleans are the favorites all coming in at 5-1 odds to win the NFC Conference.

“Atlanta is finished,” stated NFL handicapper Brad Marchetti. “Joey Harrington is a proven loser and 40-1 to win the NFC is generous. This team has been relying on it's running game for years to carry the offense but this will be the year that Warrick Dunn bottoms out and Jerrious Norwood will prove to be no more than a glorified #2 runner.”

Here is something to keep an eye on as you make your NFL Week 1 predictions:
