The Patriots (6-2) beat Miami 27-17 at home in Week 9 and sit atop the AFC East. QB Tom Brady made 25 of 37 passes for 332 yards with one TD pass and an interception; overall he’s thrown for 2,364 yards with 16 TD passes and five interceptions for a 99.2 passer rating. RB Laurence Maroney had 20 carries for 82 yards with a TD, while WR Randy Moss made six catches for 147 yards with a TD. The Pats went 1 for 4 in the red zone. The first six times Brady faced Manning, he won, but he is just 1-3 since then. Both signal-callers are in top form right now and this showdown should be full of drama. With Tony Dungy out of the mix, Bill Belichick now gets a chance to match wits with Colts rookie coach Jim Caldwell. Indy is dealing with several injuries in its defensive backfield and Belichick will undoubtedly try to exploit the banged-up secondary . The Pats offense is ranked second best in the league and their second ranked pass game will go head to head with the Colts ninth ranked pass defense. QB Tom Brady has thrown for at least 300 yards in three consecutive games and RB Laurence Maroney has a rushing TD in three consecutive games. They are 1-2 SU on the road where they average 20.3ppg and give up 14.3ppg. They are 4-4 ATS overall while averaging 28.1ppg and allowing 14.3ppg.
The Colts (8-0) beat Houston 20-17 at home in Week 9 and still sit atop the AFC South. QB Peyton Manning made 34 of 50 passes for 318 yards with one TD pass and an interception; overall he’s thrown for 2,545 yards with 16 TD passes and five interceptions for a 105.2 passer rating. RB Joseph Addai had 14 carries for 63 yards with a TD and he made five catches for 49 yards with a TD, while TE Dallas Clark made 14 catches for 119 yards. The Colts went 2 for 4 in the red zone. Pro Bowl DE Dwight Freeney has been on a tear this season. He has at least one sack in every game this season and has applied consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks. He may get a chance to line up against Patriots rookie Sebastian Vollmer, who has played well in place of an injured Matt Light. The Colts defense is ranked eighth overall with a ninth ranked pass rush and 14th ranked rush defense. The Colts don’t do much on the ground, which won’t get far against the Pats 19th ranked rush defense. Indy has won 17 consecutive regular-season games, while QB Peyton Manning leads the NFL with 222 completions this year. The Colts are 4-0 SU at home where they average 21.5ppg and give up 15ppg . They are 5-3 ATS overall while they’ve averaged 27.1ppg and allowed 13.5ppg.
