Texas Rangers 2010 Baseball Predictions

by Matt Foust on Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Texas Rangers 2010 Baseball Predictions: The Texas Rangers put together a respectable season in 2009, finishing second to the Angels in the AL West with an 87-75 record. The club is hoping to keep that win number climbing this year, despite having to square off against stellar rivals Los Angeles and Seattle on a regular basis. Texas Rangers 2010 Baseball Predictions at SPORTSBETTING.com have the team pegged for third place in the West at +225 moneyline odds.

The Rangers 2009 offense took a step back from their league leading 901 runs scored in 2008; however, they still producedTexas Rangers 2010 Baseball Predictions 784 runs and ranked second in home runs (224) and 10th in RBI (784). If Josh Hamilton can stay healthy this year, which is a big if considering he is already dealing with a spring training injury issue, Texas' offensive numbers are likely to creep closer to 2008 levels.

There are no shortage of bats in the Rangers lineup, with the likes of Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, Nelson Cruz, and Michael Young making up the heart of the order. This team will, once again, be a handful for any opposing pitching staff to deal with, especially in Arlington.

Texas' pitching staff was a mixed bag last year as its starting rotation lacked consistency, piecing together a 4.61 ERA, while the bullpen turned in a 3.95 ERA and ranked ninth in the league with a .244 batting average against. The acquisition of Rich Harden will go a long way toward helping solidify the rotation, giving it a legitimate number one to go along with solid arms in Scott Feldman and Tommy Hunter.

The relief crew should be solid again with the return of closer Frank Francisco, who recorded 11 saves in April and May of last year while giving up just one earned run, and a good mix of short and long guys in C.J. Wilson, Dustin Nippert, and Darren O'Day.

2010 Baseball Predictions: Third place in the AL West. Great offense, but even with Harden, the starting rotation does not match up with the Mariners and Angels one through five.
