But wait, the Cardinals are no pretender to the competitive throne. St. Louis has the best player in the game in Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday serves as a great compliment to 'El Hombre' in the batting order. Tony LaRussa also has two of the best starters in the league in his pitching stable in Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright. And to that the fact that the Cards bullpen, which remained entirely intact, posted a 3.67 ERA in 2009 and the Phillies have a definite challenger on their hands.
