The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets will play the rubber game of their three game set in a get-away matinee today (3:05 pm Eastern) at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Phillies ace pitcher Roy Halladay (0-0) gets the starting call while the Mets counter with left-hander Jonathon Niese.
For today's MLB Lines, the Phillies are installed -200 favorites on the off shore money line with a posted run total of 7 1/2 runs. Mets backers are getting +185 ML odds for a SU win. Run Line prices on the Phillies are +105 (-1 1/2) and for the Mets (+1 1/2) giving -125.
The Philadelphia Phillies are big favorites on off shore and Las Vegas 2011 World Series Predictions futures boards at +250 odds. New York is a World Series long shot at +5000.
After jumping out to a quick seven-run lead on Wednesday, Philadelphia survived a seven- run Mets surge in the 4th and 5th innings that sent Phillies starting pitcher Joe Blanton to the showers. The Phillies got three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to ice a 10-7 victory. Left-hand reliever Antonio Bastardo was credited with the win for the Phillies and right-hander Jose Contreras earned his first save of 2011. Phillies backers cashed-in as -140 ML favorites on the game while the 17 runs that crossed took the game total OVER the posted 9 1/2.
Halladay pitched well in his 2011 debut against the Astros on April 1 only giving up one run through six innings but the Phillies offense had to score three runs in the ninth inning to pull out a 5-4 victory in the season opener. Halladay, looking for his first win this season, comes into today's game versus the Mets with a 1.50 ERA.
There will be no surprises with my MLB Picks for this game. Getting Halladay and the Phillies at -200 is a good value wager. MLB BEST BET – Phillies ML -200.
