Duchscherer has made 32 appearances against the Mariners in his career with most of those coming as a reliever. His ERA is a respectable 3.90 in those outings but his record is an unimpressive 1-5.
Seattle fell to 2-5 yesterday with a 9-2 loss at Texas. The Rangers took the series with the Mariners after pummeling starter Ian Snell for eight hits and four earned runs inside of three innings.
Ryan Rowland-Smith, who pitched opposite Duchscherer in last week's 6-5 loss to the Athletics, will make his 12th career appearance (seventh start) against Oakland tonight. The southpaw amassed 42.2 innings pitched in his previous 11 appearances against the A's, posting a 3.38 ERA while walking 14 and striking out 23. Last week's performance was one of his worst as he yielded eight hits and three earned runs in five innings of work.
