Matusz pitched five innings in a 5-4 win against the Rays last week, giving up two hits and two earned runs. The Colorado native also walked five and struck out seven in the rare victory.
Tampa Bay improved to 4-3 with last night's win, which was highlighted by a 4-for-4 offensive effort from Carl Crawford. Crawford led a 12 hit barrage as he was one of three Rays to have a multi-hit game.
The Rays will look to win the series this evening with 27 year old Jeff Niemann on the hill. Niemann worked just 1.1 innings in his first start after being hit by a line drive in Baltimore's 5-4 win on the eighth. The team was relieved to discover that the 6' 9" right-hander did not suffer any major damage. Tampa Bay has high expectations for the Houston native this season after he went 13-6 in 2009 with a 3.94 ERA in 30 starts.
