The Twins dropped to 6-3 with the loss but maintained a tie for first place in the AL Central after the Tigers lost 7-3 to the Royals. Minnesota had nine hits in yesterday's game two loss, including three from Delmon Young, but they left 11 on base after going just 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
Tim Wakefield gets the start today for Boston while Francisco Liriano takes the ball for the Twins. Wakefield went seven innings in his first appearance this year, giving up six hits and two earned runs in 4-3 loss at Kansas City. Minnesota got a 4-3 victory over the White Sox in Liriano's season debut; the 26 year old left-hander gave up four hits and three earned runs in six innings of work. He did not get the win, though, as Chicago led 3-2 when he left the game.
