Toronto Blue Jays vs Minnesota Twins MLB Predictions at SBGglobal.com have the game total set at 8.5, with the over being favored at -120 odds.
The Blue Jays powered their way to a 7-3 record last night by recording a 12-2 win over the Twins. Toronto maintained their first place standing in the AL East with the victory and ran their season run total to a league leading 68.
Toronto got to Minnesota starter Scott Baker early, working the former Oklahoma State product for five hits — four of which were long balls — and six earned runs in four innings. Second baseman Aaron Hill led the Blue Jays, going 4-for-5 with 3 RBI. He also hit his third home run of the young season.
Minnesota, who had just four hits and one earned run against Jays starter Scott Richmond yesterday, will send Francisco Liriano to the mound this evening in hopes to even the series. That is certainly not a sure thing given the Dominican native's performance thus far. Liriano is 0-2 on the year with a 6.94 ERA. However, the 25 year old southpaw has been incredibly solid at the Metrodome over the past three seasons, garnering a 9-3 record and a 2.10 ERA in 21 appearances (15 starts) at the ballpark.
Toronto will counter with the ace of their staff, veteran Roy Halladay. Halladay is 2-0 this season with a 3.86 ERA. Last season the Colorado native was absolutely brilliant, going 20-11 with a 2.78 ERA in 33 starts. He also worked nine complete games and struck out 206 batters in 246 innings pitched.
Halladay was 1-0 versus Minnesota last season, working 6.2 innings in a 6-5 win at the Metrodome.
