Former Blue Jay A.J. Burnett will face his former club this evening as New York and Toronto begin a two game set at the Rogers Centre. First pitch in tonight's series opener is scheduled for at 7:07pm ET. The latest MLB Odds have the Yankees listed as a -115 moneyline road favorite; the game total is set at nine with the Over drawing -115 odds.
A.J Burnett suffered through the worst season of his career last year, posting a 10-15 record to go along with a miserable 
5.26 ERA. The 12 year veteran has been anything but lights out through three starts this season (4.67 ERA), but he does own a 3-0 record after recording wins over the Tigers, Twins, and Orioles. Burnett has also struck out 16 batters in 17.1 innings pitched.
Burnett, who had his worst start of the season his last time out (seven hits, four earned runs allowed to Baltimore over 6.1 innings pitched), will now be charged with stopping his former teammates as he faces Toronto for the ninth time in his career.
The Yankee hurler has not performed well against the Blue Jays in the past as evidenced by the 2-4 record and 5.84 ERA he tallied in his first eight appearances against them.
Toronto (7-9) will counter Burnett with rookie right hander Kyle Drabek. Drabek has been outstanding in three starts, allowing just 13 hits and four earned runs in 18.2 innings of work. The 23 year old Texas native and son of former Cy Young winner Doug Drabek, walked 11 but struck out 17 in wins over Minnesota, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
The Blue Jays, which trail the first place Yankees by three games in the AL East, have won three of their four games against New York. However, Toronto comes into tonight's contest playing much worse than its division rival. The Yankees have won four of their last five games while the Jays have lost three in a row and seven of their last nine.
