American League Central rivals Chicago and Detroit square off tonight as each squad looks to climb back in the division race. This evening's game one clash is scheduled to get underway at 7:05pm ET at Comerica Park in Detroit. The latest MLB Odds have the Tigers and the Under 7.5 listed as -165 and -115 favorites respectively.
Chicago earned its eighth win of the season last night while also ending a seven game losing streak that dated back to an 
April 13th meeting with the Oakland Athletics. The White Sox snapped out of their funk in a big way, banging out 10 hits and nine runs in the finale of their four game set at Tampa Bay. Chicago's nine runs almost matched the same number of runs (13) that the club produced during its extended skid.
The White Sox 8-11 record has them sitting fourth in the American League Central, where they trail the first place Indians by five games and the third place Tigers by one. In order to gain any ground this weekend Chicago must find a way to perform better against Detroit than it has in the recent past.
The Tigers, which are 9-10 after Wednesday night's series winning victory over Seattle, have won six in a row and eight of their last nine against the White Sox. Detroit swept Ozzie Guillen's club in the Motor City in early September and they repeated the feat in Chicago in mid-September, cranking out 44 runs to the White Sox 17 in those two series.
Tonight's starting pitchers are veterans Mark Buehrle and Justin Verlander. Buehrle comes into this contest with a 1-1 record and 4.50 ERA in four starts while Verlander sports a 1-2 mark and 3.41 ERA. Both pitchers have lost their last two starts, despite allowing a combined nine earned runs in 30 innings pitched.
Buehrle is 4-0 with a 2.49 ERA in six starts opposite the Tigers over the last three seasons. Verlander has not fared as well against Chicago, posting a 6-5 record in 11 starts with a 3.78 ERA.
