American League Central rivals Detroit and Kansas City will begin a three game series this evening at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Both teams suffered losses yesterday and will look for the all important division win rebound tonight. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:10pm ET. Detroit Tigers vs Kansas City Royals Baseball Predictions at Sportsbook.com have the Royals listed as a -160 moneyline favorite. The game total is set at 8.5 with the under a heavy -125 favorite. Kansas City remains in a three way tie for first place in the AL Central, despite losing to the Indians 5-2 at Progressive Field yesterday afternoon. The Royals, who are 8-7 overall, begin a seven game home stand tonight after playing their last six games on the road. KC is 3-3 at Kauffman Stadium this year. The Royals wasted another good effort from starting pitcher Gil Meche yesterday. Kansas City provided the right handed veteran little support, producing five hits and leaving eight runners on base in the loss. In spite of their poor offensive output, they carried a 2-1 lead into the eighth inning. A fielding error coupled with a Grady Sizemore three run homer off of reliever Ron Mahay in the bottom of the inning allowed Cleveland to walk away with the series win. Detroit fell 10-5 to the Los Angeles Angels last night, keeping them from securing a spot alone atop the AL Central standings. The Angels cranked out 14 hits and capitalized on four Tiger errors to post their double digit score. Detroit's starter, Edwin Jackson, gave up eight hits and three earned runs in five innings of work. The only positive for the Tigers was the continued hot hitting of center fielder Curtis Granderson. Granderson went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. The Royals will send Zack Greinke to the hill tonight as he looks to garner his fourth win of the season. Greinke has been amazing in his first three starts, allowing 16 hits and zero earned runs in 20 innings of work. The 25 year old right hander has walked just five batters while striking out 26. Royals opponents (White Sox, Indians, Rangers) have mustered a combined total of two runs in Greinke's three appearances this season. The Florida native worked a complete game in his last outing, beating Texas 2-0 in Arlington. The Rangers had just seven hits off Greinke and struck out 10 times. Detroit will send rookie starter Rick Porcello to the mound this evening. The 20 year old righty is 1-1 in his maiden voyage with a 3.75 ERA. Porcello has pitched 12 innings in his two starts and given up 14 hits — three of which were home runs — and five earned runs. The New Jersey product was fabulous in his last start, allowing five hits and one earned run over seven innings in a 8-2 win at Seattle. The Royals won 11 of the 18 games they played against Detroit in 2008, however, they were just 4-5 versus the Tigers at Kauffman Stadium.
