Chicago limps into the final leg of its 11 game road swing tonight, but wound licking is not an option for Ozzie Guillen's squad as it must contend with a New York team that leads the AL East by three games. This evening's series opener between the Yankees and White Sox is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm ET on ESPN. The latest MLB Odds have New York listed as a -210 home favorite; the game total is set at 10 with both the Over and Under drawing -110 odds.
Chicago (8-14) got off to a nice 6-3 start, but it has been all downhill for the the White Sox since a 6-1 April 10th victory 
over the Rays. Ozzie Guillen's troops have lost 11 of their last 13 games and got swept over the weekend by division rival Detroit at Comerica Park.
The White Sox' offense, which was so effective in the team's quick start, has gone dormant over the last couple weeks, producing a paltry 25 runs in the last 11 games (2.3 runs per game). Even more depressing for Chicago is the fact that nine of those 25 runs came in a 9-2 route of Tampa Bay. Remove that big night and the Sox have totalled 16 runs in their last 10 losses.
Chicago may be able to get back on track tonight, though, with A.J Burnett toeing the rubber for the Yankees. Burnett has been respectable this season, posting a 3-0 record with a 4.37 ERA in four starts, but his career numbers against the White Sox are less than commendable. The 34 year old Arkansas native is 2-4 with a 5.58 ERA in seven career appearances against Chicago.
Even if the White Sox backs come alive, it may not be enough for them to garner their ninth win of the season. Chicago right hander Philip Humber, who will make his fourth start of the season tonight, could be in trouble against the Yankees stacked lineup as he has yielded nine hits and six earned runs in 7.1 innings pitched at opposing stadiums.
New York has also won five of the last six in this series at Yankee Stadium, making this evening seem like an unrealistic night for a Sox turnaround.
