The Florida Marlins and New York Mets will square off in game two of their three game set tonight in New York City. The game is set to get underway at 7:10pm ET at Citi Field. New York got the game one win yesterday and they are a favorite to take tonight's NL East contest. Florida Marlins vs New York Mets MLB Predictions

Florida Marlins vs New York Mets at SBGglobal.com have the Mets listed as a -122 moneyline favorite. The game total is set at 9.5 with the over and under both getting -110 odds.

The Marlins dropped their seventh straight game last night, but still managed to keep their NL Central lead. They are now 11-8 and just a half game ahead of the Phillies. The Mets improved to 9-10 and are currently sitting in third place in the NL East, two games back of Florida.

Florida put together another miserable offensive effort last light, falling 7-1 to New York. The Marlins, who are averaging just 2.28 points per game in their losing streak, found Mets starter John Maine almost unhittable. Maine gave up just one hit over six innings and Florida managed just two hits in the game. Starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez, however, got banged around by New York, giving up eight hits and six earned runs in his six innings of work.

The Mets, who have won three of their last four, had nine hits in the game. They wasted no time in building a lead as catcher Omir Santos hit a grand slam in the first inning. Third baseman David Wright also had a solid night going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Starting tonight for the Marlins is 26 year old Ricky Nolasco. Nolasco had a great season in 2008 but has stumbled out of the blocks this year, going 1-2 in four starts with a 6.86 ERA. The right hander has yielded 29 hits in 21 innings while giving up 16 earned runs. Opponents are hitting a stellar .333 against him.

Nolasco went 1-2 in five starts versus New York last year with a 3.48 ERA. He worked 33.2 innings against the Mets in 2008 and gave up 13 earned while striking out 32.

The Mets will send 34 year old Cuban Livan Hernandez to the bump this evening. Hernandez is 1-1 in three appearances this season with a 7.31 ERA. The 6'2" righty had a horrible showing in his last outing, giving up nine hits and seven earned run over 4.1 innings in a 12-8 loss at St. Louis.

Florida won the first series between these teams this season two games to one, but New York drew even on the year with last night's victory. The Mets won the 2008 series 10-8.
