MLB Odds: Cardinals vs Phillies MLB Picks – May 4th, 2010: The Phillies and Cardinals continue their four game set at 7:05pm ET tonight at Citizens Bank Park with hurlers Adam Wainwright and Cole Hamels on the hill. MLB Picks at online bookmaker BetUS.com have the Cardinals listed as a -115 moneyline favorite; the game total is set at 8.5 with the Over being favored at -115 odds.

St. Louis got its eighth win in its last 10 games yesterday by beating the Phillies 6-3 in game one of their four game series.MLB Odds: Cardinals vs Phillies MLB Picks - May 4th, 2010 The Cardinals banged out 14 hits, but it was outfielder Colby Rasmus and third baseman David Freese that did most of the damage as the two combined to go 5-for-8 with five RBI. Rookie pitcher Jaime Garcia handled the Phillies potent lineup, giving up just three hits and one earned run in six innings of work.

Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright will look to duplicate Garcia's effort tonight and improve upon St. Louis' National League best 18-8 record. Wainwright, who is 4-1 this year with a 2.13 ERA, had his worst outing of the season in his last start as he allowed six hits and three earned runs (six innings) in a 10-4 win over the Braves. The Georgia native has put together a nice 5-2 record in 14 career appearances against the Phillies, but that win percentage also comes with a lofty 5.26 ERA.

The Phillies fell to 14-11 with last night's lost and their NL East lead over the Mets dwindled to just a half game. If Philadelphia wants to keep that lead, they will need a little better plate discipline this evening. Charlie Manual's club managed just five hits and struck out 11 times against four Cardinals pitchers in last night's loss.

Cole Hamels will attempt to quiet the opposing bats tonight, a responsibility he has had little success with in his last two outings. The left-hander has yielded 10 earned runs in his last 12 innings pitched, despite walking five and striking out 17. On the year, Hamels is 2-2 with a 5.28 ERA, which is similar to the 2-2 record and 4.22 ERA he has pieced together in six career starts against St. Louis.

MLB Picks Betting Trend: The Phillies are 8-2 straight up in their last 10 games as a home underdog with a moneyline spread between 100 and 120.
