San Francisco Giants vs Chicago Cubs MLB Predictions at BetUS.com have this afternoon's battle listed as a money line pick'em.

Chicago won their fourth straight game last night, taking out the Giants 4-2 in the opening game of the series. The Cubs did not produce too many offensive fireworks as they had just five hits; however, they did draw seven walks thus keeping the pressure on the Giants staff for most of the contest.

Ryan Theriot hit his third home run in the last four games for Chicago, a two run shot in the second inning off of Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez had a forgettable outing, giving up five hits and four earned runs in four innings of work.

Ryan Dempster returned to his 2008 form in shutting down San Francisco. The Canadian allowed just five hits and two earned runs over seven innings. He also struck out seven Giant batters.

The victory gave the Cubbies sole possession of second place in the NL Central. They are now 14-11 and two and a half games back of the first place Cardinals. Chicago is 8-5 at Wrigley this season.

San Francisco fell to 12-12 with the loss and a lackluster 2-8 in road contests. The Giants are presently in second place in the NL West, but five and a half games back of the Dodgers. The club's next six games (counting this afternoon's clash) are away from AT&T Park.

San Francisco will counter Marshall with right hander hurler Tim Lincecum. Lincecum is 2-1 in five starts this year with a 3.16 ERA. He has given up 11 earned runs in 31.1 innings and struck out 43 while walking 10. The former Washington Huskie is 1-0 in two career starts at Wrigley with a 1.26 ERA. He has allowed two earned runs and struck out 17 at the historic venue over 14.1 innings of work there.

Marshall is 0-1 this year in three starts with a 3.32 ERA. Despite what have been mostly quality outings from the 26 year old, the Cubs are just 1-4 in his appearances this season. The Virginia Commonwealth product gave up just one earned run over seven innings in his last start, but Chicago went on to lose 8-2 to the Marlins at Wrigley.
