Two of the hottest pitchers in the big leagues will take to the mound on Wednesday when the New York Yankees host the second of a three-game set with the Cleveland Indians at Yankee Stadium in Major League Baseball action. BetOnline.com has the New York Yankees -136 odds favorites against the Cleveland Indians +126 with the total set at 7.5 runs.
The Indians will go with 29-year-old Cliff Lee (5-0, 0.96), who currently holds the lowest ERA in all of baseball. After two straight starts of allowing no runs, Lee gave up three runs on eight hits over six innings of an 8-3 win at over Seattle. Perhaps most impressively, Lee has walked only two batters so far this season, he is also 3-0 on the road and has yet to give up a run away from home. Lee has not faced the Yankees since 2006, when he was 1-1 in two starts with an ERA of 4.97 while winning his lone start at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees will give the ball to 28-year-old Chien-Ming Wang (6-0, 3.00), who tossed a three-hit gem over six innings while surrendering a single run in a 5-1 win over Seattle. Outside of a poor performance in Boston, the fourth-year righthander has dominated the competition this season, and he has struck out at least five batters in each of his past three outings. Wang has already met the Indians this season, scattering four hits over seven innings in a 1-0 shutout in Cleveland.
The Yankees took two of three during that series in Cleveland last week, holding the Indians to six runs in what was a low-scoring series. Lee's brilliance on the road has been amazing, but he may be in for a rough ride with the hostile New York fans. Take Wang to keep his winning streak alive as the Yankees hand Lee his first loss of the season on Wednesday. Get your Free MLB Tips in Now!
