American League Central rivals Detroit and Chicago will hook up tonight at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois. This evening's game will mark the first contest in the series as last night's game was postponed due to rain. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:11pm ET.
Detroit Tigers vs Chicago White Sox Free MLB Predictions at Bodog.com have the White Sox listed as a slight -107 moneyline favorite.
Detroit enters tonight's road game having played their last eight at Comerica Park. The Tigers went a combined 4-4 against the Yankees, Indians, and Twins to work their overall record to a respectable 14-12. They are currently in second place in the AL Central and trail the Royals by two games.
Detroit, who is 6-4 in their last 10 games, will send Armando Galarraga to the mound tonight. The 27 year old has started five games for the Tigers this season and put together a 3-1 record. He has worked a total of 29.1 innings and given up 27 hits, 10 earned runs, and 14 walks while striking out 26. Galarraga's 3.07 ERA ranks eighth best in the American League.
Galarraga had his worst start of the season his last time out, giving up eight hits and five earned runs in a 5-6 loss to Cleveland. Galarraga is looking to recover against a Chicago team that has difficulty figuring him out as current White Sox are a combined 4-for-22 against him.
Chicago returns home after suffering a road tail spin in Arlington and Kansas City. The Sox have dropped four in a row, losing the final two games in their three game series at Texas and getting swept in a two game set at Kansas City.
The White Sox are 12-14 overall, a tally good enough for fourth place in the AL Central. They are four games back of the first place Royals and two games behind the Tigers.
Chicago will attempt to end their recent skid by sending the undefeated Mark Buehrle to the hill. Buehrle, who hails from St. Charles, Missouri, is 4-0 in five starts this season with a 3.30 ERA. He has pitched a total of 30 innings, walking nine and striking out 19. Opposing squads have hit a pedestrian .257 against him.
The 30 year old Buehrle started twice against the Tigers in 2008 and went 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA. He gave up 14 hits and just two earned runs in the 15 innings he pitched against them.
Magglio Ordonez, a former White Sox, has given Buerhle fits since moving onto Detroit. He has 15 hits in 28 at bats against Mark with two doubles, two home runs, and five RBI.
Chicago has won 13 of the last 20 between these two ballclubs, and seven of the last nine at U.S. Cellular Field.
