The reeling New York Yankees are in Baltimore tonight to face a team that they lost two out of three against earlier in the season. The Orioles opened the year versus the Yanks at Camden Yards and averaged 6.33 runs per game in the series. This evening's game is scheduled to get underway at 7:05pm ET. The southpaw has yet to live up to expectations in the Big Apple, looking more like the guy who stumbled out of the blocks with the Indians last year than the pitcher who mowed through the National League with the Brewers. New York brass can only hope that Sabathia returns to his typical form given all the cash they threw his way this off-season. Thus far, the 28 year old hurler is 1-3 in six starts with a 4.85 ERA. He has worked a total of 39 innings, yielding 39 hits, 21 earned runs and 15 walks. He has struck out just 24 and opponents are hitting .262 against him. Sabathia made his New York debut back on April 6th against the Orioles in Baltimore. It was a unremarkable beginning as he gave up eight hits and six earned runs over 4.1 innings. The Yankees lost the game 10-5. Baltimore will counter Sabathia with their own struggling ace. Jeremy Guthrie finished the 2008 season with a 3.64 ERA, but he has been unspectacular in six starts this year, going 2-2 with a 5.05 earned run average. Batters are hitting .278 against the Stanford product and he has walked 12 while striking out 19. Guthrie has been susceptible to the long ball in his appearances this year, seven of the 40 hits he has given up have left the yard. The Yankees enter this series in fourth place in the AL East with a 13-15 record. They have lost five straight and are 7-8 on the road this season. Baltimore comes into tonight's game with a AL East cellar earning mark of 12-17. However, they are fresh off a two game sweep of the Twins at Camden Yards.
