Diamondbacks vs Giants Odds 2011 MLB Predictions

by Matt Foust on Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

The defending champion Giants continue their six game home stand this evening as they welcome National League West rival Arizona to AT&T in San Francisco. Tonight's divisional showdown, which is scheduled to get underway at 10:15pm ET, will showcase the Diamonbacks Ian Kennedy and two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum. MLB Odds have the Giants and the Over (6) listed as -190 and -115 moneyline favorites respectively.

Arizona owns a sub-500 15-18 record, but the club has exceeded expectations thus far, sitting ahead of both the Dodgers Diamondbacks vs Giants Odds 2011 MLB Predictionsand Padres in the NL West standings. The Diamondbacks are, however, coming off a losing road series in San Diego, one which saw them outscored 14-6 at the run supressing Petco Park.

Unfortunately for Arizona, it may find the runs difficult to come by this evening as well with staff ace Tim Lincecum toeing the rubber for the Giants. Lincecum, who is 3-3 with a 2.47 ERA this season, is coming off a seven inning, five hit, zero earned run effort against the Mets.

Historically the Washington product has been extremely hard on the Diamondbacks' lineup, allowing just 78 hits and 29 earned runs in 100 innings of work against Arizona. Lincecum also owns a 7-2 record in his 14 careers starts opposite the western rival.

Arizona's Ian Kennedy will be charged with slowing the Giants momentum tonight as he looks to out-duel one of baseball's best rght handers. San Francisco (18-16, second palce NL West), a winner in five of its last six games, has had difficulty with Kennedy in the past, managing just 21 hits and 10 earned runs off the California native in just under 34 innings.

Kennedy (3-1, 3.80 ERA) last pitched on May 5th when he held the Rockies to six hits and two earned runs (six innings) in a 3-2 Arizona victory. The solid performance marked his third consecutive quality start.

San Francisco, which took two out of three from Arizona in mid-April, has won five of the last six in this rivalry series.

MLB Predictions Betting Trend: The Over is 7-1 in the Diamondbacks last eight games as a road dog at San Francisco with a total between 6 and 7.

Diamondbacks vs Giants Odds 2011 MLB Predictions:

Arizona Diamondbacks +1.5 (-155), Over 6 (-115), +160 (Moneyline)

San Francisco Giants -1.5 (+135), Under 6 (-105), -190 (Moneyline)
