The Atlanta Braves are in New York this evening to take on the National League Central leading Mets. The game is scheduled to get underway at 7:10pm ET at Citi Field and will be broadcast live on ESPN.Atlanta Braves vs New York Mets Baseball Predictions

Atlanta Braves vs New York Mets Baseball Predictions at BetUS.com have the Mets listed as a huge -200 money line favorite. The game total is set at 7 with the over being favored at -115 odds.

The New York Mets enter this evening's game with an NL East best 17-13 record. The Mets won their seventh straight game and completed a three game sweep of the Pirates yesterday with an 8-4 victory at Citi Field. Prior to the Pittsburgh series, New York swept the Phillies in a two game home set.

Trying to preserve the Mets win streak will be staff ace, Johan Santana. Santana, who kicked started New York's current eight game home stand with a 1-0 win over the Phillies, will be looking for his fifth win of the season tonight. He is 4-1 in six starts with a NL leading 0.91 ERA.

The 30 year old two time Cy Young winner has been nothing short of brilliant in his second year with the Mets, giving up just 12 walks and 24 hits in 39.2 innings of work. He has also struck out 54 batters and opponents are sporting a miserable .168 batting average against him.

Last year Santana went 0-2 in three starts against the Braves. He pitched 21 innings in the three outings, giving up 28 hits, six earned runs, and two walks. He produced a nice 2.57 ERA, but Atlanta players had a .322 batting average against him last season.

The Braves come into tonight's game after getting a two game sweep of the Marlins in Florida and winning two out of three against the Phillies in Philadelphia. Atlanta has used their recent momentum to work their overall record to 15-16, a mark that has them sitting at fourth place in the NL East standings. They are two and a half games behind the Mets.

Veteran right hander Derek Lowe will be responsible for helping his squad pull to .500 as he takes the hill for manager Bobby Cox tonight. Lowe, a native of Dearborn, Michigan, is 4-1 in seven starts this year with a 3.98 ERA. He will be looking to rebound from his worst outing of the season, an 8-6 loss against the Marlins on May 6th. The 35 year old gave up six earned runs and seven hits in five innings of work.
