New York Mets vs San Francisco Giants MLB Picks at BetUS.com have the Mets listed as a -130 money line favorite in tonight's game. The game total is set at 8.5 with the over being favored at -120 odds.

New York enters tonight's skirmish with an 18-15 record and in first place in the National League East. They have won eight of their last 10 games, even after losing two out of three to the Atlanta Braves to close out their home stand. Despite their recent run, the Mets are a mere game ahead of the Phillies in the division standings.

New York, which is 6-7 in road action this season, will send Virginia native John Maine to the hill this evening. Maine is 3-2 in six starts this year with a 4.54 ERA. The right handed hurler has allowed 17 earned runs in 33.2 innings pitched, but his biggest bugaboo has been an occasional lack of control. Maine has 20 walks to this point, negating the effect of team's hitting just .195 against him.

The five year veteran put together a great effort in his last start, a 10-1 win versus the Pirates. Maine gave up just three hits and one earned run in six innings of work.

The Giants have rebounded from a slow start to work their record to a respectable, second place earning 18-15. While they are still four games behind the Dodgers, San Francisco is four and a half games ahead of the third place Rockies. The Giants have been able to stay in the early division race by posting a 12-5 record in home games.

San Francisco will counter the Mets' John Maine with the 26 year old left hander, Jonathan Sanchez. Sanchez has been all over the place in the season's early going, at times looking magnificent while looking down right awful on other occasions. His last two appearances have been of the dreadful variety. The Puerto Rican native has given up nine earned runs in nine innings pitched over his last two outings, both, not surprisingly, were losses.

The Giants are 2-4 in Sanchez's six starts this season; they are 1-1 when he has taken the mound at AT&T Park.
