The Red Sox, which are 7-8 away from Fenway Park this season, are coming off a series loss in Detroit that saw them yield 19 runs in three games.

Starter Daisuke Matsuzaka will attempt to stop the bleeding tonight in just his fourth start of the year. Matsuzaka comes into this game one matchup with a lofty 6.35 ERA; however, Boston is 2-1 in his three outings, winning by an average of five runs per game. The Tokyo native was brilliant in his last start, allowing three hits and one earned run over seven innings in a 7-1 win against the Blue Jays.

Getting the ball tonight for New York is 23 year old right-hander Phil Hughes. Hughes has been in dominant form all season long, going 5-0 in six starts with a 1.38 ERA and 39 strikeouts. The California native last pitched against the Tigers when he gave up five hits and no earned runs to help the Yankees garner a 8-0 win. Prior to that outing, Hughes went seven innings versus Boston, allowing seven hits and two earned runs in a 10-3 New York victory.
