Oakland snapped a five game losing streak with last night's 8-4 victory, bringing its record to 19-20 on the year. The Atheltics, which are two games behind Texas in the division standings, pounded out 15 hits yesterday, allowing them to score three more runs than they had in their previous five games combined.
The Athletics will counter Hernandez with eight year veteran Ben Sheets. Sheets is 2-3 in eight starts this season with a 5.70 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. Despite his lousy numbers, the Louisiana native has pitched extremely well in his last two outings, giving up just seven hits and three earned runs over 12.1 innings pitched (six walks, 16 strikeouts).
