The red hot Texas Rangers start a three game series with the Tigers tonight in Detroit. The game is set to get underway at 7:05pm ET at Comerica Park. Tonight's contest marks the beginning of a six game road swing where they will face the Tigers and Astros. Starting for Texas tonight is 25 year old right hander Brandon McCarthy. The California native is 3-1 this season with a 5.92 ERA. In his seven starts, he has worked a total of 38 innings and given up 39 hits and 25 earned runs. The Rangers are 1-1 in his last two starts, despite what have been poor performances from the young hurler. The four year player has allowed 11 earned runs in his last 11 innings pitched. The Tigers have won three straight heading into tonight's tilt with Texas. They currently sit at 20-16 and in first place in the American League Central with a one game lead over the Royals. Their series with the Rangers in the second in a nine game home stand. Jim Leyland's club is fresh off a sweep of the Athletics at Comerica Park. Dontrelle Willis will make his second start of the season for Detroit this evening. His first outing was less than spectacular as he gave up eight hits and four earned runs in 4.2 innings against the Twins in Minnesota. The Tigers lost the game 10-14 as the Twins posted a .444 batting average against the D-Train.
