Despite his nice numbers, the 24 year old has struggled his last two times out, giving up 11 hits and six earned runs in losses to Oakland and Seattle.
Davis did not fare well in his first start against New York as he allowed seven hits and four earned runs over six innings in a 10-0 home loss back on April 10th.
New York fell to 25-14 last night, putting them just two games up on the third place Blue Jays heading into this evening's contest. Boston scored a 7-6 win at New York, spoiling a seven inning, one earned run effort from C.C. Sabathia. Joba Chamberlain played the goat, giving up three earned runs in a horrible eighth inning.
Eleven year veteran A.J. Burnett will toe the rubber for New York in this evening's divisional battle. Burnett is off to a good start this year, going 4-1 in eight appearances with a 3.31 ERA. He has been especially tough at Yankee Stadium, though, where he is 2-0 in three starts with a 0.86 ERA and .237 batting average against. For his career, Burnett is 12-4 in 22 starts against Tampa Bay with a 2.76 ERA.
