The Brunswick, Georgia native has performed slightly worse on the road, but his numbers outside of Busch are still fantastic. In five away starts Wainwright is 2-2 with a 2.83 ERA and .213 batting against.
Everyone keeps waiting for San Diego to fold, but the Padres just keep winning. They did just that over the weekend by stealing their series with the Mariners two games to one. The solid interleague showing brought San Diego's record to a National League West best 26-18. The Padres do not have a lot of margin for error, though, as the smoldering Dodgers are just one game behind them in the standings.
Getting the start for San Diego tonight will be 30 year old righty Jon Garland. Garland is 5-2 in nine starts for the Padres and his ERA is a stellar 2.38. San Diego, which is 6-1 in the California native's last seven starts, is 3-1 in his four outings at Petco Park. Garland has produced a 1.08 ERA at the facility, despite walking 16 batters and striking out just eight in 25 innings of work there.
