Mets manager Jerry Manuel has decided to start Dickey after flirting with the idea of going with Raul Valdes against the Phillies. Dickey will be the second consecutive knuckleballer to face the Phillies, as Boston's Tim Wakefield threw eight shutout innings against Philadelphia on Sunday. The Mets' righthander will be making his second start of the season. Dickey logged six innings and two earned runs in a no decision against Washington. This will be Dickey's first career starts against the Phillies and first career start in Citi Field.
