Last night the Reds got their second straight win by beating the Astros in the series opener 8-5. The victory improved Cincy to 24-20 and put them 2.5 games behind the first place Brewers in the National League Central division. The Reds, despite their improvement this year, are just 11-12 in home games.

Starting this evening for the Reds is 26 year old hurler Micah Owings. Owings is 3-5 this season in seven starts with a 4.70 ERA. The Georgia native will be attempting to rebound from a difficult go in his last start. The Tulane graduate gave up six hits and five earned runs in three innings in a 12-5 loss to the Phillies.

The Astros continued their spiral downward last night, losing their fifth straight game and falling to 18-25 on the season. Houston, who has won just three of their last seven games, is 9-10 on the road this year. They are currently in sixth place in the NL Central.

Veteran Roy Oswalt will be looked to to snap the club's recent skid when he takes the hill tonight at Great American Ball Park. Oswalt is 1-2 this season in 10 starts with a 4.47 ERA. Opponents are hitting .281 against the 31 year old in 56.1 innings pitched.

Oswalt went 6.1 innings in his last start, giving up 10 hits and three earned runs in a 3-4 against the Brewers.
