The Yankees and Rangers are set to do battle tonight, competing in the second game of their three game set at Rangers Ball Park in Arlington, Texas. New York continued their quality play yesterday, pounding the Rangers 11-1 to garner their eighth win in their last 10 games. The win improved New York to 26-19 and left them a game back on the first place Boston Red Sox in the American League East standings. Yankees Manager Joe Girardi will send Joba Chamberlain to the hill tonight in hopes that the 23 year old does not exhibit any ill effects from the line drive he absorbed in his last start. Chamberlain was struck just above the right knee by a missle off the bat of Orioles outfielder Adam Jones. The Nebraska native lasted just two thirds of an inning in the game. Chamberlain is 2-1 in eight starts this season with a 3.70 ERA. The Rangers, who have also been solid throughout the month of May, fell to 26-18 with yesterday's MLB Predictions loss. The defeat was just their seventh in 21 homes games this season. Texas is in first place in the American League West with a three game lead over the second place Angels. Rangers righty Kevin Millwood is set to take the mound for his tenth start this year. Millwood has tossed his way to a 4-4 record and a praise worthy 3.12 ERA. Opponents are hitting .240 against the 34 year old veteran and have managed just 59 hits in 66.1 innings against him. Millwood lost his last outing 3-4 against the Tigers in Detroit. The North Carolina native gave up six hits and four earned runs in eight innings of work.
