St. Louis and Milwaukee continue their battle for the National League Central lead when they hook up this evening for game two of their three game set at Miller Park. Wainwright went 8.2 innings, allowing just five hits and one earned run in the victory.
Milwaukee, who fought their way to the top of the division with a torrid stretch earlier this month, is 27-18 on the year. They have been outstanding at home, winning 13 of their 20 games there. The Brew Crew have won six of their last 10 games; they had won 10 of 12 prior to being swept by the Twins over the weekend.
Former Cardinal Jeff Suppan will work against his old club for the second time this season when he takes the hill tonight. The 34 year old Oklahoma native, who is an MLB Picks 3-3 this year with a 4.71 ERA, was brillant against St. Louis in a May 16th outing at Busch Stadium. Suppan allowed just six hits and no earned runs over seven innings in the 1-0 win.
