Baseball betting fans should take notice. Folks riding the Seattle Mariners bandwagon are cashing in big after winning 10-of-12 games since mid-May. On Sunday the Mariners look to complete a home sweep of the New York Yankees and if they do, have a chance to move into first place in the American League West. Seattle currently sits a half game behind the Texas Rangers in the standings.
Looking to prevent a sweep, the Yankees will send out their big gun, former Cy Young Award winner C.C. Sabathia, to start the game. Sabathia currently has a 3.17 ERA to go with his 5-3 record. The Mariners will counter with a left-hander of their own in Jason Vargas. The M's starter is 3-2 on the season with a 3.86 ERA.
With Sabathia and Vargas listed as starters, oddsmakers list the Yankees as -165 MLB Odds favorites in this one with a 7-run total. Seattle backers are getting +145 moneyline odds as underdogs. Run Line prices for the Yankees at -1 1/2 are +105 while Seattle at +1 1/2 are +145.
Last time out against Toronto , Sabathia went the distance for the first time this season, giving up only four runs on eight hits. He was masterful with his control throwing 77 strikes out of 103 pitches in the game.
Vargas will be looking to improve from his last outing when get got hammered in Minnesota. He gave up five runs on seven hits and four walks causing him to exit after 4 2/3-innings. Prior to that day, he had been stingy allowing one run in 23 2/3-frames.
On Saturday the Mariners got a win against the greatest closer of all time, Mariano Rivera, scoring the winning run on a bases loaded single by second baseman Adam Kennedy in the 12th inning. With the win, the Mariners moved past the Angels into second place of the AL West Division. Backers cashed as -140 favorites while the 9-run game total went OVER the posted-7.
My MLB Odds pick for today is Sabathia and the Yankees (-158 ML).
