The LA Angels are fresh off a home series sweep of San Diego, while the San Francisco Giants also are coming off a home series sweep of Oakland. The Giants (34-28) host the Angels (32-29) tonight, Monday June 15, for some MLB action. The Angels swept the Padres and outscored them 26-7; they’ve won six of their last ten games but went 4-5 during their last nine road games. They are 15-17 on the road. The Angels hit nine homers and averaged 8.7 runs against the Padres. Juan Rivera homered twice in Los Angeles' 6-0 win over the Padres on Sunday. Rivera's big game came a day after the Angels hit five homers, including three by Torii Hunter. The Angels bring to the mound pitcher John Lackey (1-2, 6.61), who was terrible in his last start, allowing nine runs and 11 hits in five innings of the Angels 9-5 loss to Tampa Bay on Wednesday night.  Lackey suffered a loss in his only start versus the Giants, allowing three runs – one earned – and five hits in seven innings during a 3-2 Angels defeat in 2006.

The Giants swept Oakland and outscored them 15-3 for their seventh win in ten games, they are 8-1 during their last nine at home. They are 21-9 at home. The Giants have won 14 of their last 19, posting a 2.60 ERA during that span. Pitching has been a strong point for San Francisco all season, but it's finally starting to get some production at the plate. Nate Schierholtz hit an inside-the-park three-run homer to lead the Giants to a 7-1 win over Oakland on Sunday. San Fran scored five runs or more for the fourth time in six games. On a bad note the Giants are last in the majors with 34 home runs. The Giants will start pitcher Barry Zito (3-6, 4.09 ERA), who has had trouble keeping the ball in the park in the past but hasn't given up a homer since winning his last two outings. Zito is 12-9 with a 3.55 ERA in 28 starts against the Angels.

Recent Trends to Consider:

  • Under is 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings in San Francisco.
  • Angels are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in San Francisco.
  • Giants are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game.
  • Giants are 4-0 in their last 4 home games with the total set at 7.0-8.5.
  • Giants are 7-1 in their last 8 games with the total set at 7.0-8.5.
  • Giants are 8-2 in Zitos last 10 starts with 4 days of rest.
