Rangers at Yankees MLB Odds June 15 2011

by Reno Gold on Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

The New York Yankees host the Texas Rangers Wednesday (7:05 pm ET) in the rubber game of a three-game set at Yankee Stadium. Texas won Monday's opener over the Yanks but New York came back victorious on Tuesday. One item missing from this series is Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who's been put on the 15 day DL to heal a leg muscle. Jeter is only six hits short of reaching the 3000 hit milestone. The Yankees scheduled starting pitcher is right-hander Ivan Nova (5-4, 4.30) while left-hander Derek Holland (5-1, 4.41 ERA) counters for Texas.

With Nova and Holland scheduled to start, the Yankees are listed as -122 MLB Odds favorites with a betting total (over/under) of 10. Ranger’s backers will be getting +112 odds as moneyline underdogs.

Holland is 2-0 with a 3.68 ERA in his last three starts and has struck out 22 in his last 22 innings. He is 3-1 with a 3.02 ERA on the road. His only road loss was to the Yankees and he is 0-3 with an 8.61 ERA in five career outings against them.

Nova gave up two runs on four hits in seven innings in Friday's win over the Indians. It was his second-longest start, behind his May 6 gem at Texas, where he allowed one unearned run over 7 1/3.

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (pictured) has been put on the 15-day DL.

After waiting out a rain delay,New York won a 12-4 laugher as -143 favorites Tuesday on the strong pitching lefthander of C.C. Sabathia. Alexi Ogando was credited with the loss. The 16 runs scored went OVER the eight-run posted total.

Early MLB Odds betting trends show the betting public split with 81% preferring the Yankees in run line betting while 55% have wagered the Rangers to win SU. The OVER is the favorite wager among 56% of totals bettors.
