The Tampa Bay Rays blasted their way to a sixth straight win yesterday as they scored seven runs in the first three innings off of Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa. Joe Maddon's squad eventually won the game 12-4 thanks to the live bats of Gabe Kapler and B.J. Upton. The two outfielders combined to go 6-for-9 and drove in seven runs.

The victory improved the Rays to 35-31, but wins by the Red Sox and Yankees prohibited Tampa from gaining any ground in the division standings. They are currently in third place in the American League East and five games behind first place Boston.

Twenty-three year old David Price will make his fifth start of the season tonight for the Rays. The rookie phenom in 1-0 in his first four starts with a 2.37 ERA. Price has worked just 19 innings and given up 13 hits and five earned runs. The Nashville native has struggled with his command at times, issuing nearly a walk per inning pitched, but opponents are hitting a meager .188 against him.

The Rays are 3-0 in Price's last three outings. The Vanderbilt product has allowed nine hits and three earned runs while striking out 20 in those appearances (14.5 innings).

The Rockies fell to 31-33 with last night's loss. They, however, are still in third place in the National Leage West but 11.5 games behind the division leading Dodgers.

Veteran righty Aaron Cook gets the start tonight for Colorado. The Kentucky native is 2-1 in five starts at Coors Field this season. He possesses a 4.07 ERA at his home park and opponents are hitting .265 against him there. Tonight's outing will mark his 14th start of the season.

This evening's game is scheduled to get underway at 8:40pm ET.

MLB Trend: The Over is 7-2-1 in Colorado's last 10 games as a home favorite versus a left handed starter.
