MLB Odds Rockies vs Twins MLB Picks – June 17th, 2010: The Minnesota Twins will go for an interleague sweep today as they square off against the Colorado Rockies at Target Field. The game three showdown, which features top-shelf hurlers Ubaldo Jimenez and Francisco Liriano, is scheduled to get underway at 1:10pm ET. MLB Picks at Sportsbook.com have the Rockies listed as a -110 moneyline road favorite; the game total is set at 6.5 with the Over drawing -115 odds.
The Rockies record fell to 33-32 last night as the Twins took game two of their interleague series by a score of 2-1.
Colorado managed just three hits in route to their second straight loss, spoiling a solid effort from starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin (five innings pitched, two earned runs allowed) and the bullpen, which gave up one hit and no runs in three innings of work.
The Rockies, which possess a 14-20 road record, are now fourth place in the National League West and five games back of the first place Dodgers.
Minnesota improved to 38-27 with last night's victory, placing them 2.5 games ahead of the red hot Tigers (won five games in a row) in the American League Central. The Twins also brought their Target Field reocrd to 23-12, giving them the seventh best home tally in the majors.
Rockies right hander Ubaldo Jimenez will look to help his team avoid the sweep today as well as capture his 13th win of the season. Jimenez is 12-1 in 13 starts this year with an NL best 1.16 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. The hard throwing righty has also been nearly flawless on the road, going 7-1 in eight starts with a 0.76 ERA and .152 batting average against. The 26 year old Dominican is coming off his worst start of the year, though, after giving up three earned runs in six innings of work in a 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Countering Jimenez is fellow Dominican Francisco Liriano. The big left hander comes into tonight's game with a 6-3 record and 2.90 ERA in 12 starts. Liriano, who has 87 strikeouts in 80.2 innings pitched, was brilliant his last time out, giving up just five hits and one earned run while striking out 11 in a 2-1 win over the Braves.
MLB Picks Betting Trend: The Rockies are 2-8 straight up in their last 10 games as a road favorite against a left-hander with a moneyline spread between 100 and 120.
