CWS Preview: Miami Hurricanes vs Stanford CardinalThe Miami Hurricanes of the ACC and PAC-10 member Stanford Cardinal will go head to head in a College World Series elimination game at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb., at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday. Oddsmakers at online sports betting giant Sportsbook.com have installed the Hurricanes as -220 moneyline favorites in this game. Oddsmakers have not set any run lines or betting totals at this time. Wednesday’s elimination game will be televised on ESPN2.

By eliminating Florida State on Monday, Miami avoided elimination themselves. The Hurricanes (53-10) have not gone two-and-out in 20 CWS appearances since 1979.  Ryan Jackson went 3-for-4 and Dennis Raben and Jason Hagerty joined Jemile Weeks in driving in two runs apiece for the Hurricanes, who have beaten FSU in three of four meetings this season. The Seminoles had no problem hitting the four pitchers they faced, but they had lots of trouble pushing across runs.

Miami right-hander David Gutierrez, Carlos' brother, struggled in his short outing. He gave up four hits and walked one. He was knocked out at the start of the second when he was hit in the right biceps by a line drive off the bat of Tommy Oravetz.

Stanford found its way into today’s loser’s bracket game by losing to the University of Georgia Bulldogs Monday night. Georgia got a two-out, two-run single from Matt Cerione in the bottom of the seventh inning that put the Bulldogs (43-23-1) ahead for good in its 4-3 victory over the Cardinal (40-23-2) in winner's bracket action at the College World Series in Omaha.
