MLB Predictions: The Red Sox will go for the sweep of the Florida Marlins tonight at Fenway Park in Boston. This evening's series finale is scheduled to get underway at 7:10pm ET. Online bookmaker BetUS.com has the Red Sox listed as a huge -220 moneyline favorite in their MLB Predictions: Marlins vs Red Sox Odss & MLB Picks. Boston took game two from the Marlins last night by a score of 6-1. Former Florida hurler Brad Penny worked five scoreless innings against his old club, giving up just three hits before turning things over to the Red Sox formidable bullpen. Offensively, Boston relied on Dustin Pedroia who went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Designated hitter David Ortiz had just one hit but generated two walks and scored three runs. The Red Sox are now 40-25 overall and have a three game lead over the Yankees in the American League East. Terry Francona's squad is 23-8 at Fenway this year and they have won eight of their last 10 games. Starting tonight for Boston is 25 year old lefty Jon Lester. The highly touted Lester got off to rocky start this year as indicated by his 5-5 record and 4.76 ERA; however, he has turned the corner of late and been nothing short of dominant in his last three outings (all Boston wins). The Tacoma, Washington native has worked a total of 22 innings in his three most recent starts, giving up just seven hits and three earned runs while striking out 34. The Marlins fell to 32-35 last night but did not lose ground in the division race as both the Mets and Phillies dropped their games as well. The Fish currently occupy third place in the National League East and trail the first place Phillies by six games. Florida, which is 17-16 on the road this season, will counter Lester with California native Ricky Nolasco. Nolasco has had more than his share of troubles this season, going 2-6 in 11 starts with a 7.62 ERA. He performed so poorly early on that the Marlins sent him down for a stint with their Triple-A club in New Orleans. Since his recall on June 7th, the 26 year old has looked closer to his 2008 form, sporting a 1-1 record with a 2.76 ERA. MLB Trend: The Red Sox are 9-1 as a home favorite with Lester starting and with a game total between 9.5 and 10.
