The right-hander gave up a season-high five runs, four earned, and dropped to 1-2 in three career starts against the Dodgers. He lost his last start against the Angels 10-7 at home. The Dodgers are 19-13 on the road where they average 5.14 runs for and 4.72 runs against. The Angels have won six straight after sweeping the Padres and Giants. At the start of their win streak they were batting .350, now after winning six straight they are batting a major league-best .282. Despite injuries to sluggers Torii Hunter, Vladimir Guerrero and Bobby Abreu, the Angels improved to a major league-best 8-1 in interleague play. Hunter is expected to return to the lineup Friday, Guerrero will likely start at designated hitter and Abreu remains questionable. The Angels will counter with pitcher Joe Saunders (7-4, 3.66) who’s searching for consecutive victories after allowing one run over 8 1-3 innings in Saturday's 9-1 win over San Diego. Saunders has split his last two starts against the Dodgers; he was 1-3 with a 5.93 ERA over his previous five starts. He opened the season 5-1 with a 2.66 ERA.
