MLB Predictions: The St. Louis Cardinals are in Kansas City tonight to start a three game series with the cross state rival Royals. Online bookmaker SBGglobal.com has the game listed as a -110 moneyline pick'em in their MLB Predictions: Cardinals vs Royals Odds & MLB Picks. This evening's game is scheduled to begin at 8:10pm ET at Kauffman Stadium.MLB Predictions: Cardinals vs Royals Odds & MLB Picks

The Royals lost their series with the Diamondbacks last night, falling 12-5 to Arizona for the second straight night. Kansas City, which had swept the Reds at Kauffman prior to their three game set with the DBacks, fell to 29-36 yesterday and they are 5.5 games back of the Tigers in the American League Central.

The Royals, which are 19-17 at home this year, will attempt to avert a three game skid by sending right-hander Kyle Davies to the mound tonight. That may not be the best omen for Trey Hillman's squad considering that they have lost six of Davies last seven starts. The Decauter, Georgia native is 3-6 this season in 13 appearances with a 5.14 ERA. On a positive note, the Royals got the win in Davies last start (7-4 versus Cincinnati), despite the 25 year old giving up three earned runs and five walks in five innings.

The Cardinals lost 3-6 last night to the Tigers at Busch Stadium, but still took the series from Detroit two games to one. In spite of the slip up, the Cardinals maintained their second place standing in the National League Central; the Red Birds are just a 1.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the division race.

Four year veteran Brad Thompson will be making his fourth start of the season this evening. Thompson, who has a 3.60 ERA on the year, is 1-1 as a starter with a 2.94 ERA. He has worked a total of 15.1 innings in his non-bullpen appearances, allowing 13 hits and five earned runs while issuing six walks to seven strikeouts.

Thompson has been particularly effective away from Busch Stadium this year, yeilding just one earned run in 10.1 innings pitched on the road.

MLB Trend: The Over is 6-1 in the last seven games between the Royals and Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium with a game total between 8.5 and 9. The Cardinals are also 6-1 in those games.
