by Matt Foust on Friday, June 19th, 2009

MLB Predictions: The Chicago Cubs will host another inter-league afternoon contest today, this time facing AL Central cellar dweller Cleveland. Neither club is playing particularly well entering today's game, but baseball oddsmakers at BetUS.com have the Cubs listed as a slight -120 moneyline favorite in their MLB Predictions: Indians vs Cubs Odds & MLB Picks.

Today's game is set to get underway at 2:20pm ET at Wrigley Field. MLB Predictions: Indians vs Cubs Odds & MLB Picks

The Cubs secured just their second win in their last six games yesterday, beating the White Sox 6-5 at Wrigley. The win earned a split in the series and improved their record to 31-31. Lou Piniella's team still sits in fourth place in the National League Central standings, but they are just four games behind the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cubs will send Canadian Rich Harden to the hill today; the six year veteran will be eyeing his fifth win of the season. The 26 year old is currently 4-3 in nine starts with a 4.53 ERA. Chicago is 0-2 in Harden's last two starts at Wrigley where he has produced a 5.58 ERA this year.

The Indians lost 8-9 to Milwaukee last night in 11 innings. The loss was the fourth in their last five games and it gave the Brewers a three game sweep at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The Tribe is now 29-39 overall and they are seven games behind the AL Central leading Detroit Tigers.

Eric Wedge will send his most formidable weapon to the mound today. Seven year veteran Cliff Lee will square off against the Cubs recently punchless offense. Lee has displayed the same form this season that garnered him a Cy Young award at the conclusion of last year. The Arkansas product is 4-6 in 14 starts with a 2.88 ERA. The Tribe are 3-0 in Lee's last three starts thanks to his stingy work on the hill. The southpaw has yielded just five earned runs over 23 innings in those outings.

The Cubs rank dead last in run production versus left handed pitching this season, sporting a total of just 47 runs scored in 400 at bats against lefties.
