MLB Picks: The New York Yankees and the Florida Marlins will hit the field tonight for game two of their three game series in Miami. The Yankees took game one last night 5-1 with veteran lefty Andy Pettitte on the hill. The Yankees drew to within two games of the first place Red Sox last night, scoring a 5-1 win against the Marlins while Boston fell 8-2 at home to the Braves. The victory improved the Yanks to 38-29 overall and bumped their road record up to 17-15.

New York touched up Florida rookie Sean West for 10 hits and five runs in four innings. Andy Pettitte assured that the early production was more than enough to seal the deal as he gave up just three hits and one earned run in seven innings.

Yankees skipper Joe Girardi will call on former Marlin A.J. Burnett tonight in hopes that the hard throwing righty can produce a similar effort to the one Pettitte turned in yesterday. Burnett is 5-3 in 13 starts this season with a 4.46 ERA. The 32 year old, who has given up 41 walks and 40 earned runs in 80.2 innings of work, is just 3-2 in six road starts for New York. He possesses a less than spectacular 5.19 ERA away from Yankee Stadium.

The Marlins dropped to 33-36 with last night's loss. They are presently in fourth place in the National League East and five games behind the division leading Phillies. Last night's loss was Floirda's sixth in their last 10 home games and in brought their season record at Land Shark Stadium to a miserable 15-20.

The Fish will attempt to rebound this evening with staff ace Josh Johnson toeing the rubber. Johnson has been brilliant this year, going 6-1 in 14 starts with a 2.76 ERA. The 25 year old Minnesota native is 3-1 at home with a 2.02 ERA. The Marlins are 6-2 in Johnson's eight home starts, averaging 4 points per game to the opposition's 3.5.

Tonight's ball game is scheduled to begin at 7:10pm ET at Land Shark Stadium in Miami, Florida.
