Padres at Red Sox MLB Odds June 20 2011

by Reno Gold on Monday, June 20th, 2011

The Boston Red Sox, best of the American League East and owners of a 43-28 record, host the San Diego Padres, worst of the National League West, floundering 13-games below the .500 mark, in a three-game inter-league series beginning Monday at Fenway Park (7:10 pm ET). Making his debut as Red Sox starter will be southpaw Andy Miller (0-0). Countering for the Padres is left-hander Wade LeBlanc (0-2, 4.26 ERA).

Betting odds, based on LeBlanc and Miller as starters, show Boston as -200 MLB Odds favorites in this one with a 10 1/2-run total. Padre’s backers will be getting +170 odds on the offshore money-line.

With Clay Bucholz on the mend and on the DL, Miller was called up from Pawtucket to fill the hole in the rotation. At Pawtucket Miller went 3-3 with a 2.47 ERA. It's a similar situation with San Diego who recently brought LeBlanc up from Triple-A Tucson a week ago. The Padres southpaw was a loser in both his 2011 starts. He has allowed 16 hits and six earned runs in 12 2/3 frames.

Boston won a 12-3 laugher against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, a game that closed out a three-game set at Fenway Park. The Red Sox cashed as -240 series favorites and on Sunday as -117 favorites while the 15 runs scored easily went OVER the posted nine.

Early betting trends show 70 percent of all moneyline bets falling on the Red Sox to win tonight's game SU and 99 percent of run line wagers going on Boston. Totals trends are showing 57 percent taking the UNDER-10 1/2.

Oddsmakers across the offshore MLB board have priced Boston as -300 MLB Odds favorites to win the three-game set while the combined run total (over/under) is set at 29.
