MLB Betting Preview: San Diego Padres vs Detroit TigersAfter getting swept in their three game series against the Yankees, the San Diego Padres picked up a much needed Inter League win Friday night while hosting the Detroit Tigers in the first of a three game weekend Inter League set at Petco Field. Tonight the Padres will look for their second win in a row when they send RHP Cha Seung Baek (1-2, 4.84 ERA) to the mound. The Tigers will counter with Nate Robertson (5-6, 5.46 ERA).

MLB Betting oddsmakers at online sports betting giant Bodog (Bodoglife.com) currently have the Tigers listed as 123-moneyline favorites versus the Padres, while the game's total is sitting at 8½. Padres backers see good value as a home dog getting +113 ML juice.

Robertson had some of his best control this season in his last start. He needed only 66 pitches to get through six innings, with 45 of them going for strikes. He did not reach double-digit balls until the fourth. Robertson allowed no runs in an outing for the first time this season. He also recorded his second straight quality start and fourth of the year. Despite starting his career in the National League, the left-hander has never faced San Diego.

It's hard to figure out Baek, who is still getting his feet wet in the National League after joining the Padres from Seattle last month. Baek allowed three runs in the first inning of his last start at Cleveland on June 14 on two hits and two walks. What happened after that? Baek retired 20 of the final 21 hitters he faced, including the last 16 consecutive hitters in earning a no-decision. Baek threw 110 pitches, so it's safe to say he's stretched out now after he pitched in relief with Seattle.

The Padres fought back to earn a 6-2 win over the Tigers on Friday, as -125 favorites. The game's eight runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (8.5).

Ccott Hairston led the way with two RBI's and Chase Headley had two hits with one RBI. Heath Bell allowed one run in relief in the win.

Curtis Granderson and Placido Polanco each homered in the loss for the Tigers, who were +105 underdogs. Fernando Rodney gave up two runs in relief and was saddled with the loss.
