The Brewers will look to get a leg up on the White Sox as the two squads kick start an inter-league series at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago tonight. First pitch in this evening’s match up, which features hurlers Zack Greinke and Chris Sale, is scheduled for 8:10pm ET. MLB Point Spreads have the hosting White Sox and the Under 7.5 runs both listed as -130 moneyline favorites. Milwaukee is drawing +120 odds to take tonight’s series opener.
Milwaukee has endured its share of struggles this season, as evidenced by its 32-37 record, but it enters tonight’s game having won its last two series. The Brewers, after being swept in Kansas City, took two out of three from the Twins and earlier this week they took games one and three in a home set opposite the Blue Jays.
Milwaukee will look to continue its solid run this evening with staff ace and former Cy Young winner Zack Greinke toeing the rubber. Greinke, who is making his 15th start of the season, yielded 11 hits and four earned runs in his last outing as the Brewers fell 4-5 to the Twins. Prior to facing Minnesota, Greinke gave up just six hits and one earned run over seven innings in a 1-2 loss to his former club, the Royals. For the year, Greinke owns a 7-2 record and 3.10 ERA.
Greinke is more than familiar with the White Sox from his days in Kansas City, but his numbers opposite Chicago, particularly at U.S. Cellular Field are not what one would expect. In 10 career appearances against the Sox in Chicago, Greinke is 1-7 with a 6.48 ERA.
Chicago, which has dropped six of its last eight games, will counter Greinke with 23 year old lefty Chris Sale. Sale has been outstanding this season as his 8-2 record and 2.46 ERA would suggest; however, he is coming off his worst outing of the year. The lanky southpaw gave up seven hits and five earned runs over 5 2/3 innings in a 6-7 loss to the Dodgers last Friday night. Based upon his home numbers, he figures to recover from that showing tonight. Sale is 4-2 in six starts at U.S. Cellular Field where his home ERA 2.03 and his opponent batting average against is a stellar .181.
MLB Point Spreads Betting Trend: Zack Greinke’s teams are 1-9 in his last 10 starts as a road dog with a total between 7.5 and 8.
