It will be a dog-eat-dog world at the College World Series Championship Series Monday (7 p.m. ET) when the Georgia Bulldogs and Fresno State Bulldogs vie for the college baseball national championship at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., at Rosenblatt Stadium in a best of three games format. Oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com have installed Georgia as a -125 money line favorite with a 12 run total. Fresno State backers are getting +105 ML odds.
“Georgia will be considerably more rested than Fresno State which could give the Georgia-Dogs an advantage,” said Point-Spreads.com handicapper Reno Gold. “Georgia was able to rest and watch on Sunday while Fresno, also having played on Saturday, played the Sunday game and has a quick turnaround playing Monday.”
Fresno State's run in the NCAA tournament included wins over four teams ranked in the Top 11 and four conference championship teams: No. 3 Arizona State, No. 5 Rice (C-USA), No. 6 San Diego (West Coast), No 11 Long Beach State (Big West).
Georgia earned its berth in the national championship series by winning bracket one of the two-bracket, double elimination CWS format with a 3-0 record. The Bulldogs opened the series with a 7-4 win over No. 1 Miami and defeated No. 7 Stanford twice, 4-3 last Monday and again on Saturday. In just their sixth College World Series trip, the Bulldogs will play for the national title for the second time in the program’s history after reaching the title game and winning the championship in 1990.
