MLB Picks: The reeling Phillies are in Tampa Bay tonight to take on their World Series rivals, the Rays. Philadelphia has lost six games in a row entering this evening's contest and they are expected to keep that streak rolling as a +160 moneyline underdog at Sportsbook.com's MLB Picks: Phillies vs Rays MLB Odds - June 23, 2009.

Philadelphia, perhaps more than any other team, cannot wait for inter-league play to end. The Phillies, who — amazingly — still have a game and a half lead over the second place Mets in the National League East standings, are coming off a 1-8 home stand versus American League squads. The Red Sox took two out of three from Philly while the Jays and Orioles swept them at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies have to be thrilled to get out of town as they are 23-9 on the road this season compared to 13-22 at home.

Charlie Manuel is hoping veteran lefty Jamie Moyer can stop the bleeding when he takes the mound against the Rays tonight. Moyer has not exactly been a reliable option this year, going 4-6 in 13 starts with a 6.35 ERA. The 46 year old, who lost 1-7 to the Jays in his last start (6 innings/10 hits/six earned runs), has been slightly better on the road. In six away starts, Moyer is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA.

The Rays, who are coming off a 3-3 National League road swing, have won two in a row and are 21-12 at Tropicana Field this season. Tampa is 37-34 overall and in fourth place in the American League East; they trail the first place Red Sox by six games.

Tampa Bay will start rookie phenom David Price tonight. Price is 1-1 in five starts this year with a 3.46 ERA. The 23 year old is coming off his worst performance of the season, a 3-5 loss at Colorado where he gave up 10 hits and five earned runs in seven innings. However, the Vanderbilt product has been brilliant in two starts at the Trop this year (both wins), allowing just seven hits and two earned runs in 10 innings pitched. 

Game Note: Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, who has been battling a severe sinus infection and missed Sunday's series fianle against the Orioles, is suppose to be in the lineup tonight.
