orioles adam jonesGeographic rivals Baltimore and Washington meet for game two of their three games set at Camden Yards tonight as the Orioles look to take the series after last night’s 2-1 victory. This evening’s contest is scheduled to get underway at 7:15pm ET. MLB Point Spreads are favoring Baltimore at -115 moneyline odds; the Nationals are getting -200 odds (+1.5) on the run line and +105 odds to win outright. Tonight’s game total is set at 8.5 runs.

Baltimore snapped a three game skid last night with a 2-1 win over the Nationals. Orioles starter Jason Hammel was outstanding in the tightly contested contest, allowing five hits and no earned runs in eight innings of work. Hammel, who fanned a career high 10 batters, improved to 8-2 with the win. Baltimore brought its record to 40-30 and closed to within a 1.5 games of regaining the AL East lead over the Yankees.

Washington, now 40-28 overall, saw its NL East lead slip to 2.5 games over the Mets, who have won four straight games. The Nationals will look to bounce back from last night’s loss and keep a little breathing room between themselves and New York by sending the well traveled Edwin Jackson to the hill.

Jackson is 3-4 with a 3.02 ERA this season; however, despite those quality numbers, Washington has won just four times in his 13 starts and two of those wins came earlier this month. The nine year veteran took the loss his last time out after giving up seven hits and two earned runs over six innings in a 4-1 setback opposite the Yankees.

Countering Jackson for the Orioles will be rookie left hander Wei-Yin Chen. Chen owns a 7-2 record and 3.36 ERA in 13 starts and he is coming of his best outing of the season. The Taiwan native worked seven innings in a 2-0 win over the Braves, allowing just six hits and zero earned runs. Chen is 4-0 in six starts at Camden Yards where his ERA is an impressive 2.72.

MLB Point Spreads Betting Trend: The Nationals are 8-2 in their last 10 games as a road dog with a total between 8.5 and 9 runs.
