MLB Picks: The New York Yankees will take on the Atlanta Braves tonight in game two of their three game set at Turner Field. The Yanks were blanked 0-4 last night as their struggling offense continued its lethargic play. Online bookmaker SBGglobal.com is looking for a New York bounceback this evening as the Yankees are listed as a -133 moneyline favorite in their MLB Picks: Yankees vs Braves MLB Odds - June 24, 2009. New York lost their third straight game last night and fifth in their last six contests to bring their overall record to 38-32. They are tied with the Blue Jays for second place in the American League East standings and both squads sit five games back of the first place Red Sox. The Yankees produced just four hits in yesterday's loss and all of those came against Braves starter Tommy Hanson within the first five innings of play. The Atlanta bullpen gave up no runs and no hits in 3.2 innings while walking one and striking out three. The loss marked the second time in six games that Joe Girardi's club was on the wrong end of a shutout. They averaged just 2.2 runs per game in that same span. Right-hander Joba Chamberlain will attempt to end the Yankees slide as he takes the hill tonight in Atlanta. Chamberlain has been fairly effective this season, sporting a 3-2 record in 13 starts with a 3.89 ERA. Most of his quality starts this year have come on the road where he is 3-0 in six appearances with a 2.72 ERA. The Braves improved their record to 34-36 last night, and they now find themsleves four games back of the division leading Phillies. Atlanta has won two games in row, but just four of their last 10. They are 17-17 at Turner Field this season. Getting the starting nod for the Braves tonight is Japanese veteran Kenshin Kawakami. Kawakami had a bit of a rough start to the season as Atlanta lost three of his first four starts, but he has been nothing if not consistent over his last four outings and the Braves have notched three wins in that span. Kawakami's last appearance came at Fenway Park where he gave up just two hits and two earned runs in an 8-2 Atlanta route. Tonight's inter-league affair is set to begin at 7:00pm ET at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.
